Somerset Redstreak, as the name suggests, is a traditional bittersweet cider apple variety originating from Somerset in the West Country of England. Willie Smith’s Somerset Redstreak Dry Cider has been made solely from this variety to show-case the delicate aroma and complex tannin profile of the apple, while also expressing the traditional dry West Country cider style. Prominent textural tannins and balanced acidity, typical of true bittersweet cider apples, have allowed this cider to be made in a medium dry style that maintains significant body and a persistent and lingering mouthfeel.
This dry cider displays delicate varietal apple and sweet spice aromas that are under-pinned by deep toffee apple notes. Layers of fruit, confectionary and complex drying tannins combine with perfectly balanced acidity to deliver a multilayered textural expression of the Somerset Redstreak varietal cider apple.
